What's the trick to this quest?
Go outside. Walk over to the green star. Nothing happens.

learn to read the quests.....

1. Obtain fireworks from Nubah Lao so you can defend Kaitan Village in Panjiang Peninsula!
2. Stock up on fireworks to ensure you have enough to defend Kaitan Village. You have 0...5 of 5 fireworks.
3. Destroy the nian before they can doom Kaitan Village to a year of bad luck! Set off a firework near a group of nian to scare them away.
4. See Coordinator Tahyaa for your reward.

If you're attempting to tell me to get fireworks:
The part of the quest that says to get fireworks has lines through it. It has been done. I have fireworks in my inventory.

Same with me. It's nerfed, I think.

have you walked around the village? i've just finished it with another char, to complete the quest you shouldn't be anywhere near the star. you have to run into the village where the yellow rings are flashing.

You need at least 7 fireworks... as soon as you go under the 5 required to be in your inventory the quest bugs out and you need to get more (and restart vs the nian)

And has already been said in the thread... go to the yellow pings on your compass.

I'm a bit puzzled - I think I'm doing the quest correctly - i find the Nian in the direction advised by the npc's - get right up close, within the red ring on the ground around the Nian, and set off a firework.

It works for the first one or two then says I have failed quest & need to exit the penninsula and re-enter to retry the quest.

I have tried taking 10 fireworks in order to avoid the suspected bugging described above but still to no avail

Any suggestions ?

Murf.

You need to be quick about taking out the Nain. The longer they're in the village itself, the lower the village's luck bar (i think it is) goes, You should get a display.
Once the village's luck runs out, you lose the quest and have to restart

bring a running skill and go to where the pop up first (down by the ele guy) after doing in the first guy run east and catch the 2 near the cow pen...then using your running skill run west back past the ele guy and catch the last 2..
It can be very very easily done with 3 party favors and equip a melee weapon so you can hit the "C" and run up to them, then hit your party favor.....and catch 2 at a time (I have done this quest 10 times already today with just about every profession I have).
Hope this helps

totaly wrong...just too much people out there, which are to dumb to read and to play.

First u you've to get 5 rockets (from which you need only 3 later)

then when the quest starts, don't get irritated by the decreasing red bar ... just run to the pinged points, there will appear 1 to 2 nians, that happens 3 times.. and the simplest thing to defeat them is just using 1 festival rocket in their adjacent near and they will instantly die...

you have only just to positon good and wait for the right moment, when they stand right next to you to use the rocket...3times done and killed 5 nians and the quest is done >.>

noobs

lol, and I thought there could not exist people out there, which are dumber, than noobs, lol I was seemly wrong.

wow, now people don't have their speakers on.
way to go.

Computers don't spam pings... only idiots do. So keep your speakers on when questing.

You only need 3 Fireworks, although you need 5 for the Quest Log bit. Once you enter, run to the Objective Marker and a villager (?) will yell "Quick they are coming from the South" and a yellow ping will go off. Jus tfollow the ping.

The first group is one Nian. The second group is two Nians. And the third is two Nians. I think you need 5 just incase they split up, but they havnt had enough time to before I scare them off (they're huge and they are scared of fireworks...). If you have the quest Defendign Tsumei Village active, you will have some hardcore (...) Crimson Skulls to verse.

Easy-follow the pings...
